Radon Testing & Mitigation guide • Quincy, MA
Mitigation sounds technical and intimidating. The actual process is straightforward, usually done in a day, and it works.
Here is the sequence, from diagnosis to verified result.
A second test confirms the first before anyone drills. Borderline results get a longer-term test; clearly high results move straight to planning.
The installer checks how air moves under your slab, which determines where the suction point goes and how many are needed. Every foundation behaves a little differently.
A small hole through the slab, a sealed pipe run to the exterior, and an in-line fan. The fan draws soil gas from under the house and vents it safely above the roofline.
Sump pits get sealed covers, major slab cracks get sealed. Sealing alone does not fix radon, but it makes the suction system far more effective.
After the system runs, a new test confirms the reduction. A proper system brings even high readings well below the action level. No verification test, no finished job.
If your test came back at or above 4 pCi/L, you are a candidate for a one-day mitigation install. Call (857) 754-3949 and we will walk through what your foundation type means for the system design.
